We have been a proud part of Glen Rock since we opened. Many of our customers are regulars from town — senior citizens enjoying a slice and some conversation, school kids coming in with their parents for a nutritious hot lunch, college students home on break stopping by for a taste of their favorite pizza, local sports teams celebrating a great game with a celebratory pizza — and we know them by name just as they know us.
We sponsor baseball, soccer and basketball teams in Glen Rock’s recreation sports programs, and we have hosted quite a few field trips from preschool and elementary school classes interested in learning about John’s Boy and the art of making fine pizza.
John's Boy was voted best pizza runner up for 2010 in 201 magazine and Best of Bergen for 2007.
Meet the original John!
Umberto and Patrizia are the owners of John’s Boy Pizzeria. Patrizia is the daughter of John, who opened John’s Boy in 1983.
Pizza and Italian food have been in the family's blood for more than 50 years. John emigrated from southern Italy and began working in a pizza shop in New York City in 1957. Eventually John and his wife, Francesca, opened their own shop. John focused on the main attraction: traditional, thin-crust pizza with his homemade crust and sauce. Francesca was responsible for everything else.
Patrizia grew up helping her mom in the shop’s kitchen. When John and Francesca opened in Glen Rock, they hired a new pizza man, Umberto. Patrizia and Umberto fell in love working at John’s Boy and have been married since ????. They are the current owners of the restaurant and continue the tradition of making excellent pizza and Italian food.
John’s Boy is a true family-owned restaurant. Patrizia and Umberto haven’t made a single change to John’s classic recipes. The fresh ingredients and signature recipes are what make John’s pizza and entrees so delicious.
The friendly and welcoming nature of the owners and the incredible pizza will bring a smile to your face. With both the thin crust and Sicilian-style pizzas, overstuffed heroes, salads and Italian dinners, there is plenty to please any appetite.
